After her round of classes this past semester, Sara Ziff donned a cap and gown to participate in her graduation today at the prestigious Columbia University here in New York City (Psst, she will be graduating Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's Degree in Political Science!!). These candid photos are quite different from the typical images that we showcase here on the blog, but they are some of the most beautiful by far. Also, they demonstrate just why Sara has always been more than just a model, but a model citizen as well. Congratulations to Sara and her family on this achievement!

New Faces F/W 2011: Nyasha

As a Katie Grand favorite the last season, Nyasha has already been seasoned on the runway through walking shows like Loewe and Louis Vuitton. Starting this week, she will make her NYC debut with much pomp and circumstance. Although she speaks with the loveliest of British accents, she has not lost touch with her Zimbabwean roots. All in all, she is an excitable young woman who just can't wait to get things started!

1) How could you describe New York?

The city of opportunity; the place where dreams come true.

2) What are you wearing to stay warm in these freezing temperatures?

Knee high boots and a LOT of cotton!

3) What is your favorite word? Least favorite word?
Favorite: Love. Least Favorite: Impossible.

Avatar in 3D. It swept me off my feet and was so mind-blowing!

My first 2-player dance mat, which I got when I was 12.

New Faces F/W 2011: Nastya

After finding success on the Paris catwalks over the past several seasons (Chanel, Dior, Givenchy just to name a few), Nastya has finally made her way stateside. Her tall frame and intense eyes have already captivated all of us here at the agency, so we are intrigued to see which show clients will feel the same way. And as you are about to read, she really has a wise way with words.

1) How would you describe New York?

Huge, positive, full of the vital forces of this small world.

2) What are you wearing to stay warm in these freezing temperatures?
Warm jacket, jeans, boots and a smile on the face.

3) What was the last movie you watched? What did you think about it?
Eat, Pray, Love. Very interesting and instructive cinema about that how not to lose oneself and to find your place in life.

4) What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
My favorite dog.

New Faces F/W 2011: Helen

Our Wednesday New Faces feature is dedicated to the lovely, energetic Belgian Helen, who is beyond ready to take on all her appointments. She bears a cool factor and versatile walk that makes her ideal for so many different clients, so we are prepared to see just where she lands while in New York.

1) How would you describe New York?
There's such a positive energy around, and I always feel like I'm in a movie when I walk around in the city with my iPod. Central Park is beautiful covered in all the snow!

2) What are you wearing to stay warm in these freezing temperatures?
A really big scarf you can also use as a blanket, my favourite sweater from Christian Wijnants and also my bikerboots, which are perfect to wear in the snow.

3) What is your favorite word? Least favorite word?
Favorite: Blueberry; Least favorite: mud.

4) What was the last movie you watched? What did you think about it?
Black Swan, I loved it! I sat on the end of my chair throughout the whole movie, and the way Natalie Portman acted out the character's schizophrenia was really admirable!

5) What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
I got a goldfish for my last birthday from my best friend. It was awesome!

New Faces F/W 2011: Merethe

The flawless Norwegian Merethe graces our second New Faces feature this week. After being active in Europe for a short period, she is now ready to take on the shows of NYC for the first time. We proudly call her our very own Jean Seberg, but that is not only because of the hair - Merethe's chic elegance and delicate beauty makes her an automatic standout in every room.

1)  How would you describe New York?
Energetic, busy, nice and beautiful (In a strange way).

2) What are you wearing to stay warm in these freezing temperatures?
Wool socks! And since I don't have much hair on my head right now, my first priority for staying warm is a hat and a big scarf. 

3) What is your favorite word? Least favorite word?
My favorite word in English is "wonderful." It's such a beautiful word! My least favorite word is in Norwegian: AGURK (It means cucumber, in case you are wondering).

5) What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
Once I got a big double bed from my mom and dad. I love that bed - it's one of the things I miss the most when I'm traveling. It's so huge and soft and long (So my feet don't stick out)!

New Faces F/W 2011: Madelene

Our first New Faces feature for this upcoming show season is for the sensational Madelene from Sweden. Not only does her unique style blow us away, she also possesses a confidence that amps up everyone else's energy around her. 1) How would you describe New York?
Winter-wonderland? Other than that it is amazing...the city never sleeps! That's one thing I like: always people in circulation.


2) What are you wearing to stay warm in these freezing temperatures?
My fur coat and lots and lots of clothes layering underneath it.


3) What is your favorite word? Least favorite word?
"Iloveyou" is a good one, that's one word right? Hm, most unpleasant word...that's a hard one. Maybe sore feet. In Swedish it's one word, "Skoskav". 

4) What was the last movie you watched? What did you think about it?
Despicable Me, saw it on the flight to New York, and it is such a cute movie. I love the little girl Agnes.


5) What was the best birthday gift you ever received?
A gold bracelet, which I got on my 19th from my lovely boyfriend. Unfortunately I lost it after just 2 weeks...oops! I have a new one now that's exactly the same.


6) Tell us the FIRST thing that comes to mind when you see each of the following words:

Black - is the color of ALL my clothes basically. Sad but true. 
Models -  are awfully gorgeous! 
Coffee - is to be drunk black. No other way. 
Marilyn - is the best agency in NYC. Love you guys! (Aw, thanks!)
Rabbit - coat! My sister has a black one which is amazing. I'm so envious. 
Runway - me, in one week I guess. Heard that you always remember your first season. So excited!!!
Snow - is suppose to be in Sweden not New York city!
Door - ...? My mind went totally blank. Haha. Pass.

2010: The Last Days

Liu Wen: Chinese Beauty

Sara Ziff: The American Debut

Spread the word! Sara Ziff's renowned documentary about the modeling industry, Picture Me, will premiere this weekend at the Angelika Film Center in New York City. A director's Q&A will also take place both Friday and Saturday evening. Everyone is cordially invited to view this anticipated debut, and tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.
