SHOWTIME: Mi Ami at Cakeshop

Disco shred experimental spazz punks Mi Ami bring the very essence of "heavy" to the Cakeshop tonight. This San Francisco-based trio's volatile and barely restrained rhythmic assault is an uncomfortably personal and a calculated live hysteria not to be missed. Mi Ami's sophmore LP, Steal Your Face, was released on April 6th on Thrill Jockey (Thrill 237).

Back Porch Video

Before the explosion of the blogosphere and Youtube, the “Porch Jockies” of Dearborn, Michigan delivered youth culture as a “Saved by the Bell” at a Black Flag show hysteria. Back Porch Video was one of the first cable television-based music video programs, premiering in January 28, 1984. The Back Porch Video Youtube page has a killer archive of footage from the historic late night “hardcore hour” and beautiful low-fi medleys of the whole BPV crew.
