The 4 Major Trends for Dresses Spring / Summer 2011

It seems all heads were in sync whilst designing for this season, the past few seasons, since the recession struck, trends have not been so easy to identify but this year the job was, well, a piece of cake.

We have all sat in the bath tub pretending to be in a Sofia Coppola film which makes this trend a dream come true. Lux, Mary, Bonnie, Cecilia, Theresa; dress like your favourite Lisbon sister in innocent 70s style. Pastels, florals, whites and maxis are just some of the keys things to look for in your summer wardrobe, and if you wanted to go a step further you can even write Kevin on all your bras and panties, only to have your mum bleach them out of course.

So wearable its almost a second skin, all shades of nude were present on the catwalks for this season. Whether you are pale or tanned you will be able to find the right shade for you, but make sure it is floaty or simple, you don't want a body con to make you look naked when seen from far away. That would just be socially unacceptable.

Perfect for work wear, strip back to basics with a simple shift dress or maybe something immaculately tailored, but patterns and embellishments are strictly forbidden. Worth the investment since its becoming a classic, and you certainly won't mind wearing it again and again.

Just as you were starting to feel starved of true bold colour this trend hits the big time. Get Tangoed this season as orange was one of the hottest colours, along side reds and yellows. Or perhaps go Neon like Christopher Kane with a hot pink or green, but whatever your favourite rainbow colour, make sure it makes a statement!

Whoever said money can't buy happiness was wrong.

1. Clogs - Miu Miu
2. Satchel - Louis Vuitton
3. Sunglasses - Alexander Wang
4. Studed boots / Converse - Bess
5. Wedges - Mulberry
6. Friendship Bracelets - Bex Rox (ONLY £45! I am so getting one of these!)
7. Umbrella - Paul Smith (I'm british, what can I say? It rains.)
8. Rings - Pamela Love
9. Stud Earrings - Zoe & Morgan
10. Jade nail polish - Chanel (sold out unless you want to spend £600 on ebay for it)

These are some of my favourite accessories for SS10.
So who is going to give me an obscene amount of money with which to buy these things? (and more)

You?
Really?
Oh Wow Thank You sooooo much.
I love you.
So generous! How kind of you!
Just write the check to Jasmine Laini Meaden, ok?

Wow, thanks :)

BURBERRY S/S LIVE IN LONDON

http://burberry.vogue.co.uk/
WATCH IT LIVE ON VIDEO STREAM!

I AM, AND EMMA WATSON IS THERE!

THIS IS OVER NOW,
but I think you can go back and watch it on demand.

IT WAS AMAZING!
A pastel palette; draping on everything from skirts to trenches. Modern trenches took a delicate twist, literally, on the classic, which of course was also present. Brown leather waist belts accompanied everything! Ruched trousers and silk leggings. Big bangles, care free hair, sparkles, glitter and more metalics! Silver and gold; sandals and socks, something superb!

Faces on the runway included Lily Donaldson, Freja Beha Erichsen, Chanel Iman, Abbey Lee & Jessica Stam, and on the front row were the Olsen twins and the face of Burberry herself, Emma Watson in a beautiful gold shimmering dress, that was no doubt a Burberry design.
Mary Kate seemed to be reluctant to take of her sunglasses; just aswell due to the shards of glitter falling from the ceiling at the end. The sound track consisted of anything and everything that was the The Kooks live.

I feel like I was there.
So Amazing!
This is the way forward and the future.
Live streamed fashion shows at our calling.

Christopher Bailey is a genious.
Welcome home my friend!

Blow me a kiss, simple as this.

Luella S/S 10 : mixed emotions :) :( :| @ ! :S :o

Its very wearable, but lacking creativity. Perhaps a little simple for me? Im not sure. There are some really wierd unflattering silhouettes used aswell. I haven't posted them, these are just the ones I like, but if you think youve got big hips you stand no chance. To me this seems like a mixture of House of Holland S/S 09, See by Chole and some old Luella designs from way back to the beginning of the decade. Well I guess thats the recession for you.
Not her best.

(My Favourites were the 2008 collections. S/S 08 will be available at London Fashion Weekend [or should be due to my calculations, and in times of recession I'm sure Luella needs to make as much money as possible so should be there], and I am going to get some :DDDDDD. Sexy Grannies saved by Superheros and Witches of the West. What could be better?)

I can't say much about the House of Holland collection either. He has tweaked old designs and stuck house pictures on normal items of clothing. The only things I like are the 'OLD' 'NEW' 'BORROWED' t-shirts and shirts. I might buy a white t-shirt and make one of those myself.
Another disapointment.

Now for the good news...

Christopher Kane S/S 10 : put a spell on me.

He is really growing on me. I love his stuff. I love this pattern; it reminds me of picnics and tea parties :)

My top tip? Buy pastels in the sales for a good bargin.

Here we go round the Mulberry bush, on a lovely spring morning.

The S/S 10 Mulberry collection is just to die for!!!!!!

I already have this bag but its just not enough!

I can not wait until the Luella pictures are put up tommorow. Expect a huge post on it. Punk fluffy dresses and the like; it should be amazing!

I got my London Fashion Weekend tickets today too. I am going on saturday and hope to buy a S/S 08 Luella bag and maybe some clothes depending on the prices. I definately want something batman printed. If I don't have it my life will be over and not worth living. Im sooooooo excited! :D

Oh and I also applied for jobs at Topshop Oxford Street and Urban Outfitters Oxford Street at the weekend. I really hope I get one. Not only do I need one, but they owe me with all the money I spend there. The discounts would be so awesome!
Wish me luck :D!!!!!!!!!! xxxx

Pixies and Puritans

How does Fashion react to the recession?
The way I see it there are 5 different ways:
1. Do what we did last time; the fail safe.
2. Look back in to the past, because things were so much better back then.
3. Ignorance is bliss.
4. Work, work, suits and work.
3. Escape in to a land of fantasy.

Number 5 is my personal favourite, and it seems many of the designers that have so far shown at New York Fashion Week for s/s 10 would also agree. Inspired by Fairies, Pixies, Nymphs and old Folk tales of Puritans and Soldiers, the collections are rather beautiful.

Lost in a world of my own

Both Images from Stylesightings.com

Why is it that I seem to have so many items of clothing but I hate most of them. I hate my 'style' not that I am even sure what it is. I feel so cheap looking most of the time I suppose. I can't really explain it. I just never look elegant, I think thats what it is. The problem is I need comfy clothes for school so its all a bit difficult.
I need to find myself. The truth is I feel lost.
That is my summer misson,; to find myself.
Wish me luck xx

A sailor went to sea sea sea to see what he could see see see.

Top - Topshop
Skirt - Topshop
Shoes - New Look

I got the skirt for £12 yesterday, I had seen and liked it before but for £28??? No way, so I'm vair, vair happy about the discounted price.

I got my belated Elle magazine today. Talk about running late; I used to recieve it around a week early. Despite this it came with the unecessary free gift of a top which I mentioned in another post, however it also came with...
THE RUNWAY EDIT!!!! YAY!
I saw most of it online as the fashion weeks happened, but nevertheless, I still think its awesome.
Lovely Emma Watson graces the cover aswell this month so that is also a lovely touch.
Elle is slowly winning me over again.

I am still stumped as to what to wear for my Juniour Apprentice interview!

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

That's okay As long as you can make a promise not to break my little heart or leave me all alone in the summer

So I havent posted in like a week due to an amount of school work. I have been shopping so I have some new outfit posts planned but with the current climate its too hot to wear clothes. But if I had to wear something it would be this dress/top/playsuit. Whatever it is I love it!
I will be posting some outfits soon.

I have my interview for The Juniour Apprentice next monday aswell so i need to decide on something smart to wear, which is puzzling me.

I have also seen a cool Lady Gaga top on Asos for £18 which I figure I can wear to the gig in two weeks. It will be cheaper than the Gaga merchandise that will be available at the O2 anyway.
EEEEKKKK!!! Im standing and sooo excited! I LOVE GAGA!
